WeWork to Close Largest Boston Location

WeWork’s largest Boston location is set to close as the coworking giant plans to reject its 241,000 square foot lease at One Lincoln St. in the city’s financial district. The decision, outlined in a filing in New Jersey bankruptcy court, is part of WeWork’s efforts to renegotiate leases and reduce its footprint. Despite attempts to reach an agreement with the landlord, Fortis Property Group, WeWork will abandon the lease on May 31.

This move follows WeWork’s recent decision to reject leases at other locations in Boston, including 711 Atlantic Ave., 40 Water St., and 100 Summer St., totaling 274,000 square feet. The closures add to the challenges faced by Boston’s office market, as WeWork’s spaces reenter the market amidst an already struggling environment.
