WeWork Expands, Takes Space for 1,000

WeWork is opening its sixth location in Austin, taking three floors in the recently renovated Westview building at 316 W. 12^th St. Though specific square footage of the deal was not available, the co-working company indicated that WeWork Westview would have enough room for 1,000 members. JLL’s Kevin Kimbrough and Rachel Coulter represented the landlord and owner, Prescott Group Inc. in lease negotiations.

The newest location will open in spring 2019, and will offer hardwood floors, polished concrete, comfortable reading nooks, conference rooms, event spaces and quiet phone booths. “The Westview building will have all the amenities necessary for local nonprofits, service providers, freelancers and enterprise companies to thrive,” said WeWork’s Matthew Glazer.

Prescott Group acquired the 98,500-square-foot, six-story building from the Texas State Teachers Association in 2016.
