WeWork Adds 185K SF in Chicago, Grows to 8 Locations

New York-based WeWork expanded its footprint in Chicago, adding another 185,000 square feet and boosting its market presence to eight locations. The co-working space giant claimed five floors at 515 N. State (pictured above), a 671,957-square-foot, 29-story high-rise owned by a Beacon Capital Partners’-led JV. WeWork is also leasing two floors at 330 N. Wabash, a 1.2-million-square-foot, 50-story historic landmark building, also owned by Beacon.

WeWork’s Megan Dodds says, “Since launching our first building in Chicago over three years ago, we’ve had the opportunity to provide a home to many of Chicago’s most innovative creators, entrepreneurs and organizations.”

The site at 515 N. State is planned for more than 2,000 desks, while 330 N. Wabash is planned for more than 1,100 desks. Both sites are expected to open in November. WeWork opened its first Chicago location at River North (111 W Illinois St.) in May 2015.
