Weston Urban Readies to Renovate Milam Building
Weston Urban LLC is getting ready to renovate Milam Building, a 21-story, 247,779-square-foot historic building in downtown San Antonio. The locally-based developer is planning to convert the 90-year-old building at 115 E. Travis St. into space that will serve growing technology start-ups. Weston Urban’s Graham Weston told the San Antonio Business Journal that renovations would begin by the middle of 2018.
The developer acquired the asset in 2016 for an undisclosed price. The plan is to promote the Milam as flexible space for start-ups. Several startups are currently leasing space in the property. “We need some big blocks of non-Class A space,” Weston told the Business Journal. “That’s what the Milam is going to be.”
The Milam came online in 1928 as one of the first office buildings to feature air conditioning. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
