Wells St. Market First Downtown Food Hall to Reopen
Wells St. Market will reopen Monday, making it the first Chicago food hall to do so during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chicago Tribune reported. However, not all of its vendors are participating in the first phase.
General manager John Williamson told the Tribune that fewer tenants operating means fewer people in the space. Health and safety regulations apply for both employees and visitors, who are required to wear masks and adhere to distancing guidelines with the help of floor decals.
Along with implementing measures such as increased sanitation for high-touch surfaces, the food hall will also count the number of people entering the space, and patrons may have to line up outside during peak hours.
“This is a great food city, and we want people to be able to enjoy the restaurants that we have, and come in and experience great cuisine and feel safe doing it,” said Williamson.
