Stephen R. Schmidt, a commercial real estate and finance professional with more than 25 years of experience, has joined Weitzman as Chief Investment Officer.

Schmidt is responsible for focusing on investment opportunities, the capital markets and financing relationships on a statewide basis for Weitzman, a retail-focused commercial real estate firms based in Texas.

Prior to this new role at Weitzman, Schmidt was Managing Director for Dallas-based Cypress Equities. While at Cypress, Schmidt led the Cypress platform in the development or acquisition of more than 50 real estate investments representing $2 billion of invested capital.

“Stephen’s background in both finance and retail real estate investments makes him a strong leader for Weitzman’s investment and finance operations,” said Weitzman’s Marshall Mills.

Schmidt is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
