Weir Oil Breaks Ground on $30M Service Center

Weir Oil and Gas broke ground on a $30 million facility, situated on 20 acres of the David Mimms Business Park in Midland, TX. Upon completion, the 96,000-square-foot building on Interstate 20 near Schlumberger’s Midland headquarters will consolidate Weir’s three Permian Basin service centers.

Weir initially offered the facility to city of Odessa, but the agreement was turned down at a May 4, 2017 meeting. At the same meeting, the council fired Odessa Development Corp. President Jimmy Breaux. Since that time, local media reported that one city council member, Malcolm Hamilton, who voted against the Weir deal, worked for a competitor.

As Odessa works through election recalls and lawsuits, Midland Development Corp.’s Brent Hilliard indicated that the Weir deal will help boost infrastructure development on the remaining 50 acres at the business park, making the area more attractive to other companies.
