Weill Cornell Medicine to Open New Research Center

Weill Cornell Medicine is expanding its research capabilities by securing five floors at 1334 York Ave. The 200,000-square-foot space is set to open in 2026. The new space is leased from Sotheby’s at its world headquarters, a block from Weill Cornell’s main campus.

This expansion is part of a $1.5 billion fundraising campaign, focusing on key areas like neuroscience and precision medicine. The facility, designed for sustainability, prioritizes energy efficiency and natural light. With over 700 faculty and staff expected to work here, it’s set to become a hub for innovation and collaborative research. The first phase begins in early 2024.

“By continuing to invest in science, we can change medicine, moving pioneering research more rapidly from lab concept to patient therapies,” said Dr. Robert A. Harrington, the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine and provost for medical affairs of Cornell University.
