Weill Cornell to Expand in UES

Weill Cornell Medicine is embarking on the construction of a modern student residence on the Upper East Side, nearly doubling the existing student residential living space.

The 16-story, $260 million residence will house 272 students in 163 studios, seven one-bedroom, and 51 two-bedroom apartments. This eco-friendly building will include spaces for study, collaboration, recreation, fitness, and socialization, with a focus on students’ academic life and overall wellness.

The project is funded by donations, including gifts from campaign co-chairs Jeffrey Feil and Sanford I. Weill. who collectively contributed $122 million toward its construction.

“For more than a century, Weill Cornell Medicine has prided itself on producing exemplary doctors and researchers who have transformed our understanding and practice of medicine,” said Cornell president Martha E. Pollack. “This new residence will further enrich the experience of our students, providing them with the best possible living and learning environments as they pursue their educations at Weill Cornell Medicine.”
