Wawa Breaks Ground in Three New States in the Midwest

Wawa, a Pennsylvania-based chain of convenience stores and gas stations, has officially broken ground on its first stores in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Each of the groundbreaking events included contributions to local community partners.

In 2025, Wawa plans to open nine stores in Kentucky. Over the next five to eight years, Wawa plans to build and open five to eight stores per year in the Louisville and Lexington area, with the goal of ultimately opening 40 stores in the state.

In Ohio, the retailer broke ground on its first location in Ohio at 5308 Fields Ertel Road in Cincinnati. At 3835 East 96th Street, Indianapolis, Wawa broke ground on its first Indiana location. For both Ohio and Indiana, Wawa has expansion plans that include opening several stores this year and up to 60 stores in each state in the coming years.
