Wanted: Architect to Lead Alamo Museum Design

The Alamo Master Plan Management Committee issued a Request for Qualifications for architectural/design services concerning a new Alamo Museum. The RFQs are seeking out architectural design and an architect of record for the 130,000-square-foot museum, which will be across the street from the Alamo in San Antonio. The museum is part of an overall master plan to redevelop the original grounds where the 1836 battle took place between Mexican and Texan forces.

The plans call for approximately 30,000 square feet of exhibit space, along with an entry with ticketing and security checkpoint for the site. The building (or buildings) would also include a rooftop terrace and restaurant that would overlook the Alamo grounds.

The submission deadline on both RQFs is Aug. 24, with competing firms shortlisted by Sept. 30. The contract award and execution are scheduled for Oct. 15-31.
