Want to Earn More? Head to North Texas
Those interested in amassing a larger paycheck might consider planting stakes in North Texas. Specifically, GoBankingRates.com listed Frisco, McKinney and Plano, TX — all suburbs north of Dallas — as one, two and three on its “Most Surprising Cities to Live in If You Want to Make a Lot of Money” ranking.
To build its ranking, GoBankingRates examined 188 U.S. cities containing at least 50,000 households, and factored in median household income, cost of living, median home list price and labor force participation and top income tax rate. Frisco came out on top because it “boasts the highest median household income and biggest difference between city and state incomes on this list,” GoBankingRates noted.
Other Texas cities making the top 20 on this list included Grand Prairie (No. 7), Austin (No. 11) and Fort Worth (No. 13).
