Walmart Opens $135M, 2.6M-SF Distribution Center in Mobile, AL

Walmart opened its new $135-million Distribution Center Mobile, AL this week. The 2.6-million-square-foot facility is a key component that’s expected to strengthen the retailers’ supply chain network, while creating more than 750 jobs.

The new storage and cross-dock facility is located about 20 miles southwest of Mobile at 8725 County Farm Rd. in Irvington. It will supply several regional distribution centers that support roughly 700 Walmart stores in Alabama, Mississippi and across the region. The distribution center covers roughly 60 acres under one roof, and is Walmart’s sixth import distribution center in the U.S.

Walmart’s Jeff Breazeale says, “We are excited about how this facility will help us better serve our customers across the South and beyond, while creating a positive economic impact locally through job creation and future development.”
