Walmart Opening Advanced Lancaster Distribution Center

Walmart opened a 730,000-square-foot fresh food distribution center in Lancaster, 15 miles south of Dallas. Located at 940 East Pleasant Run Road, the distribution center will receive and process fresh produce, eggs, dairy, and frozen items for delivery to nearby Walmart locations. State-of-the-art technology enables the retailer to process more than double the volume of a traditional DC, getting items onto store shelves faster than ever before.

Perishable distribution centers are a strategic part of Walmart’s supply chain transformation and keep its more than 4,600 stores stocked with fresh and frozen merchandise. The Lancaster facility is the second of five new perishable distribution centers for Walmart.

The Lancaster plant will require 500 workers. The company employs more than 176,000 associates in Texas and has 590 stores in the state.
