Walmart Investing $300M in Charlotte-Area Warehouse

The N.C. Economic Investment Committee approved incentives for a $300 million project from Walmart Fulfillment Services LLC.

The Charlotte Business Journal reports Walmart will locate the operation at The Keith Corp.’s Kings Mountain Corporate Center, which is nearly 1.3 million square feet. Walmart’s facility at 799 Sara Lee Access Road is expected to open in 2027. Kings Mountain Corporate Center is one of the largest industrial buildings in the Charlotte market. The Keith Corp. delivered the structure along Interstate 85 in 2023, and it has been vacant since then.

The Economic Investment Committee approved a grant for Walmart, worth up to nearly $3.7 million over 12 years.

Walmart Fulfillment Services also has another massive facility in the region. In late 2020, the company bought the 1 million-square-foot Troutman Industrial Park building for $69 million.
