Walgreens CIO Hsiao Wang Is Latest Exec to Leave Drugstore Chain
Bloomberg reported that Walgreens Boots Alliance’s Chief Information Officer Hsiao Wang is the latest executive to leave the drugstore chain, citing an internal memo. According to interim Chief Executive Officer Ginger Graham, Wang had been on leave and was no longer with the company effective immediately.
Walgreens is actively searching to fill multiple C-suite roles following the sudden departure of CEO Rosalind Brewer and former CFO James Kehoe, who both left in August. Longtime board member and pharma industry executive Ginger Graham has been serving as Walgreens’ interim CEO.
The company has retained the former CIO of Northwestern Mutual, Neal Sample, as a consultant to advise Graham on technology matters. Neal also served as CIO and COO of Express Scripts, which was later acquired by Cigna. Former Express Scripts CEO Tim Wentworth is reportedly in the running to fill the role of CEO of Walgreens.
