Vulcan Plans Another MF Development in Seattle’s Yesler Terrace
Vulcan Real Estate is continuing to advance plans for its fourth development in Seattle’s Yesler Terrace neighborhood. The project at 1009 Alder St. is envisioned for 350 residential units.
The development will consist of two six- to eight-story buildings over an underground parking garage. A pedestrian pathway will traverse through the site between the buildings. Roughly 70 units will be allocated for lower income residents.
Vulcan’s Lori Mason Curran told the Puget Sound Business Journal that plans for the latest Yesler Terrace project are in the early stages, and a development timeline hasn’t been set. The land purchase is not expected to close until the middle of next year.
Yesler Terrace was Washington’s first public housing project that opened in 1941. Today, the 30-acre community atop First Hill is being redeveloped by the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) into a denser mixed-income, mixed-use neighborhood.
