Visionary Fiber Technologies Planting Lockhart Stake

Visionary Fiber Technologies (VFT) is investing $6.75 million in a headquarters and R&D facility in the town of Lockhart, TX, in Caldwell County. The fiber reactor technology company is upgrading a 30,000-square-foot warehouse at 1400 Farm-to-Market Rd. East, and executives hope to have the facility open and operational by the end of 2018.

VFT’s John Kinzer told the Austin Business Journal that Lockhart’s location appealed because members of the current team live in Austin, Bastrop and San Marcos. The person who holds the patents underlying the company’s technology works at Texas State University in San Marcos.

Under an economic development agreement approved by the Lockhart City Council, the project would create and retain 70 full-time jobs in its first decade, at an average annual salary of $75,000.
