“Virtual” Goldie Gala Sets New Fundraising Record, Honors Colliers’ Lynn Reich

The 2020 Goldie Gala, held virtually on Sept. 17, raised more than $500,000 toward the mission of the Goldie Initiative, which is to prepare women for senior leadership roles in all sectors of commercial real estate. The tally surpassed last year’s record-setting $425,000.

This year’s total included an anonymous donor’s “matching grant” for all dollars raised during the virtual gala, until the organization met its goal of $500,000. More than 500 individuals registered for the virtual Gala.

The event honored the Goldie Initiative’s 2020 Shero Award winner, Lynn Reich, EVP with Colliers International, as well as the organization’s 25 Goldie Scholars 2020-21, Alumnae and generous donors and sponsors. Launched in 2007, the Goldie Initiative is named for Goldie Wolfe Miller, a renowned CRE broker and entrepreneur.

Connect Media, a sponsor of the Goldie Gala, assembled a video of reflections by Chicago-area industry leaders on the importance of the Goldie Initiative’s mission. Interspersed with these reflections were quotes from pioneering female leaders—including, fittingly enough, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who passed away the day after the video was aired as part of the live feed of the Gala.
