Vienna Beef Plans Mixed-Use at Its Former Factory in Bucktown

Vienna Beef plans a $20-million redevelopment to turn its former Bucktown factory space into its new corporate offices, factory store and restaurant, Crain’s Chicago Business reported. The new 150,000-square-foot complex will be named Vienna Beef Plaza.

The riverside location at 2501 N. Damen Ave. will also include retail space that may eventually be occupied by other companies.

“Vienna Beef has long imagined what possibilities exist at our former factory location, where Vienna was in operation since the early 1970s,” Tom McGlade, SVP at Vienna Beef, said in a release. “We couldn’t be more excited to see Vienna Beef Plaza come to life.”

The company relocated its factory operations from Bucktown to Bridgeport on Chicago’s South Side in 2015. Five years later, in 2020, the Bucktown Factory Story and Café closed its doors.
