VIDEO: Key Insights from Connect Investment & Finance 2023

“Is the Fed done raising rates?” Victor Calanog, global head of research & strategy, real estate private markets, Manulife Asset Management, asked during his presentation at Connect Investment & Finance 2023. “I think they are, or they’re close. If they’re done raising rates, what’s going to prompt them to begin pausing or lowering rates?”

In the video below, you’ll hear some of the key insights from Calanog and other commercial real estate experts assembled by the Connect Events team for the Oct. 24 event held in Rosemont, IL. They include Eric Enloe, senior managing director at Partner Valuation Advisors, who told attendees that there is demand for real estate–in pockets. “The pricing has shifted,” Enloe said.

On the financing side, Stratos Anhanassiades, regional manager, Midwest at Red Oak Capital Holdings, summed up the degree of caution lenders have assumed in the current environment. “We need to look at a loan and make sure we’re going to be able to get out in two years.” That said, he added that aside from CBD office, he and his team have been active across a variety of property types.
