Video Game Developer Takes 145K SF in SoMa
Unity Technologies ApS, a well-known video game developer, leased 145,000 square feet at 657-667 Mission St.in SoMa, according to sources familiar with the deal. CBRE handled the lease negotiations, but declined to comment, as did Unity and Align Real Estate, which owns the buildings.
The new lease will almost triple Unity Technologies existing footprint at 30 3rd St. The company is slated to move in sometime next year.
“Silicon Valley and San Francisco attract a different animal,” said Robert Sammons, senior director of Northern California research at Cushman & Wakefield. “The reason tech is expanding here is that many of the people who work at these firms—millennials or other age groups as well—want to be in this 24/7, more urban environment.”
Align Real Estate and Chinese partner Vanke bought 657-667 Mission St. last year for $64.5 million.
