VIDEO: Connect Healthcare Panelists Provide Forthright Take on the Market

‘We’re at an interesting point,” said Bryan Johnson, recently named Americas healthcare leader at CBRE, in a one-on-one conversation with Healthcare Real Estate Insights’ Murray Wolf. “We’re starting to see a lot of stuff coming out of the COVID years and we’re seeing healthcare trending in the right direction.”

Specifically, the trend Johnson sees as especially indicative is operators’ margins moving toward the 4% range. “That’s when they start to reinvest.”

Johnson and the other experts assembled for this year’s Connect Healthcare Real Estate event, held Sept. 10-11 at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, provided a forthright take on the current state of the sector. When it comes to lending, for example, the GSEs regard “smaller properties, older properties in smaller markets” as a riskier proposition, said Casey Moore, managing director at Lument. They’ll offset that risk with newer properties in bigger markets.

In the video below, you’ll see highlights from each of the five panels put together by the Connect Events team, with subject matter ranging from operations to financing and development trends.
