Viasat Expands Carlsbad Headquarters, Again
Viasat is in the midst of a multi-phase headquarters expansion that will add more than 350,000 square feet to its current Carlsbad, CA location. The satellite Internet and defense communications firm needs the additional space due to 24% revenue growth for the first six months of its current fiscal year.
Already completed is an expansion that added 180,000 square feet in two buildings and a parking structure. A second phase, which is expected to deliver next month, will add an additional 173,000 square feet, as well as additional parking garages.
The new East campus expansion sits on 23 acres and boosts Viasat’s Carlsbad footprint to 1.1 million square feet in 17 buildings. The addition features a four-acre outdoor plaza with hammocks, couches, TV screens and Internet connectivity that’s adjacent to conference rooms with receding glass walls to create large indoor/outdoor meeting spaces. There’s also a 10,000 square-foot atrium, cafes, food stations, putting greens, and collaborative work spaces.
