UTEP Moving Ahead with $109M Classroom Project
The new building will replace the 62-year-old Liberal Arts building that UTEP officials say is a maintenance and upkeep nightmare. It will be the largest classroom building on the campus. It’s expected to open in spring 2026.
The 125,000-square-foot Texas Western Hall, located on Hawthorne Street, will have a five-story east wing and a three-story west wing connected by a three-story atrium.
The exterior will be done in the campus’ Bhutanese-style architecture. Besides classrooms, it will also have computer rooms and offices. Liberal Arts classes and departments will continue to be centered in the new building.
Sundt Construction, the project’s general contractor, will start work in about two weeks.
