UT Board Approves $107M for Main Campus RE Projects
The University of Texas Board of Regents has okayed a total of $107.2 million that will be directed to real estate projects for UT’s main campus in Austin. The development list includes a new, $60 million basketball team/rowing team practice facility, a redo of the museum and an upgrade of an educational building.
The ground-up construction involves a $60-million practice facility for the Texas men’s and women’s basketball teams, and the women’s rowing team. The center will be built adjacent to the under-construction Moody Center, the university’s new basketball arena. Gensler is the dessigner of record on both projects.
The Blanton Museum of Art will receive $29 million for upgrades, that will include an improvement of infrastructure and a new main entrance. Meanwhile, the George L. Sanchez Building, home to the university’s College of Education, will undergo $18.2 million in upgrades, focused on improving floors two through five, and development of a new entry.
