UTA breaks ground on $600M expansion

UT Arlington Selects Contractors for New $600M Campus

The University of Texas at Arlington has selected HKS Inc. as the architect and Hansel Phelps Construction Co. as the general contractor for the key buildings on its new 51-acre campus, which will be known as UTA West, in an area of western Fort Worth known as the Walsh Ranch.

UTA West is expected to open to students by fall 2028. The campus’s construction cost is estimated to be around $600 million.

The UTA development is being divided into a northern and southern parcel. The first set of buildings, which will be in the northern parcel, will include five buildings totaling 930,000 gross square feet and a 1,589-space parking garage.

Four more buildings are possible in the southern portion of the development. Engineering, social work, nursing, public health, public policy and business program are being planned, and could support up to 12,000 students when all is said and done.
