USAA Willing to Create More Jobs – For a Price

USAA, headquartered in San Antonio, would be interested in bringing 1,500 jobs to the Alamo City, invest at least $70 million in building and garage improvements at its downtown offices, and allow public access to hundreds of parking spaces.

The catch? The San Antonio City Council needs to approve a $6 million incentive package. If approved, the company’s 1,500 jobs could include new employees or workers relocated from other USAA hubs. The council will vote on the proposal Dec. 14, 2017, during its regular meeting.

Under the proposal, USAA would receive a $4-million, five-year economic development loan, and a $2-million (10-year) tax abatement. The company’s downtown locations are at 300 Convent St. and One Riverwalk Place. The headquarters are at 9800 Fredericksburg Rd. The company employs approximately 19,000 in the region.
