Urban Renaissance Unveils Plans to Turn Lloyd Center Into Mixed-Use Neighborhood

The owners of Lloyd Center, Portland’s oldest mall, Urban Renaissance Group and KKR Real Estate Finance Trust, unveiled their conceptual master plan to redevelop the 29.3-acre site into a mixed-use hub.

The plan envisions transforming the 1960s-era mall and surrounding parking lots into a mixed-use neighborhood and lifestyle-oriented regional destination. The reimagined layout will be opened up to the surrounding communities by connecting to Portland’s street grid with significantly improved transportation networks for bikes, pedestrians, and cars.

ZGF, a Portland design firm, is the lead master planner. Field Operations, the New York-based urban designers that lead the Seattle Waterfront project, are also involved. The initial project team is comprised of DOWL, KPFF, DKS Associates, and Radler White Parks & Alexander LLP. Lloyd Center’s owners have also spoken with city leaders about the desire to locate a baseball stadium on the site, leaving the possibility for a new facility should an MLB team come to Portland.
