University is Building Athletic Stadium
The University of North Texas, in Denton, TX, has begun work on a new soccer and track-and-field campus. The $13.6 million facility will offer a sand-based soccer field, an eight-lane track, and enough seating for 1,500. The new facility is expected to give UNT the ability to host Conference USA championships and other events.
The stadium’s scheduled completion date is August 2018. The new stadium is fitting into the plan of Wren Baker, UNT’s vice president of intercollegiate athletics and director of athletics. Baker’s 20-year plan is to develop student-athletes into leaders at the university, which is about 60 miles north of Dallas-Fort Worth.
