Univ. of Washington Looks to Expand Tacoma Footprint
Living downtown offers several things, including access to transportation, killer cultural dining (if you’re lucky) and, maybe, some memorable exchanges with strangers. If one were to add academic achievement to that scenario? The potential for the proverbial win/win is fairly high.
In Tacoma, the University of Washington is, reportedly, hoping to expand upon those above-mentioned options:
School leaders are in the process of putting together a request for proposals to build a residence hall-like building that includes food service, such as a dining hall, through a public/private partnership.
The university is already expanding its footprint with a $43 million building academic building – a building of note that’s directly across the street from the Old Spaghetti Factory (courtesy of a Google Maps search).
From the U’s website, the expansion of students is not small, with a planned growth of between 10,000-12,000 new undergraduates in the coming few years.
