United Supermarket Adding Tap Room to Grocery

A new United Supermarket store will open Oct. 6, 2017 at 6321 Fourth St. in Lubbock, TX. And, the 57,000-square-foot store will offer more than food. Taphouse 16 will have 16 beers on tap, as well as bottled water, and wine. The store will also have a Starbucks, other prepared-food stations and a grocery pick-up location for online ordering.

The in-store bar means customers can enjoy adult beverages in one of the seating areas, or even while they browse around the store. Tony Crumpton, executive vice president of United, said the company wanted the stores to be a place where people can celebrate. The concept had already been tested at a Dallas-area store, to great success, he told the Lubbock-Avalanche Journal.
