Under Construction: A Lot of Downtown San Antonio

The 2010s has been nicknamed the “Decade of Downtown” for San Antonio. If the cranes and construction are any indication, there is plenty of CBD development going on. In addition to projects that are already under construction – including the Frost Tower, Hemisfair Civic Park and San Pedro Creek Development – “there’s a lot in the pipeline as well,” the Center City Development Office’s Ramiro Gonzales told the Rivard Report.

What is going on now is the result of a close to $600 million bond passed in 2012, with other construction consisting of private-sector development. When voters approved the recent 2017 Municipal Bond, another $850 million dollars was made available for 170 projects across the city. Those involved with the projects will have the next five years to complete them.
