ULI Recognizes Healthy Places
ULI’s San Diego-Tijuana District Council recognized four projects for leadership in creating healthy places. Award categories recognized catalytic land use practice that supports active lifestyles, alternate mobility, equitable access across demographics, access to local and healthy food and innovative technologies.
The honorees are:
Healthy Public Open Space: Civita Park, Mission Valley, San Diego (developer: Sudberry Properties, design: Schmidt Design Group)
Healthy Public Policy: Chula Vista Bayfront Master Plan, (pictured) Chula Vista (public agency: City of Chula Vista and Port of San Diego; developer: Pacific)
Emerging Healthy Place: Zona Centro, Tijuana, Mexico (public agency: City of Tijuana, contributing organizations: Bustamente Real Estate, The Cosmopolitan Group, LWP, Centro Ventures, Grupo CCBC)
Eat Better Think Better, Building Healthy Habits: Mesa College Bookstore and Cafeteria, San Diego (developer: San Diego Community College District; designers: SGPA Architecture and Planning, Miller Hull, Latitude 33, IDEA Studio, McCullough Landscape Architecture, Graphic Solutions; built by: Balfour Beatty US)
