UH-Victoria Breaks Ground on $23M Residence Hall
University of Houston-Victoria began construction on a new $22.8-million student residence hall. Named after the university’s provost emeritus and his wife, the three-story Don & Mona Smith Hall will offer 272 beds
The 82,000-square-foot building, situated next to University Commons student center and library currently under construction, will offer a large classroom, event space, and reception area. Each floor will have a common kitchen area and large study room with a computer lab for students.
Slated for completion in August 2019, Smith Hall is dedicated for upperclassmen.
“Accommodating student housing through Smith Hall is very important for the growth of the university,” said Matthew Alexander, UHV’s director of capital projects. “In order to meet our mission to bring students to campus for face-to-face classes, it’s crucial that we continue to grow and create that campus living place for them to stay.”
UHV can house 660 students in its three existing residence halls.
The Connect Apartments conference will take place June 26. For more information, or to register, log on here.
