UH System Readies for Far West Metro Campus
In early 2017, the University of Houston System paid $46.8 million to Parkside Capital for 46 acres in Katy, TX. Now, the UH System is preparing to launch construction on its far west Houston-area campus. The campus, situated at Interstate 10 and Grand Parkway, is scheduled to open by fall 2019, and will feature an 80,000-square-foot, three-story building as an anchor to the campus.
The Katy campus will offer programs from the colleges of engineering and nursing, located at the flagship UH campus in near Houston’s CBD. Jay Neal with UH Sugar Land and UH Katy told Community Impact that the new campus will also work with business leaders from the Energy Corridor, the Katy Economic Development Council and Katy Chamber of Commerce to determine how to best guide students into the business community after they graduate.
