UCSD Plans Downtown Facility
University of California, San Diego could make a big splash downtown. The school’s administration is considering putting a facility in the I.D.E.A. District just south of downtown.
The facility would be what university officials are coining a laboratory for social and urban issues taking place in the city.
I.D.E.A. stands for innovation, design, education and the arts. The 35-acre neighborhood’s borders are: San Diego High School, Market Street, 11th Avenue and 17th Street.
It is not yet known how big the UCSD building would be or the amount of time it would take for completion.
