UCI Applied Innovation Expands into 84K SF at The Cove
UCI Applied Innovation, along with University Lab Partners, is expanding into roughly 84,000 square feet at UCI Research Park. Broadcom formerly occupied the space at 5270 California Ave. known as The Cove.
Together, UCI Applied Innovation and University Lab Partners, a nonprofit program of The Beall Family Foundation, create an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Orange County that includes the UCI campus, entrepreneurs, inventors, investors and the business community.
UCI Applied Innovation will occupy the first and second floors, while University Lab Partners will use the third floor to create a wet lab incubator for entrepreneurs to rent lab space to commercialize their research and inventions.
Irvine Company owns UCI Research Park, formerly called University Research Park. The company has invested $100 million to improve the 185-acre business park.
“UCI Applied Innovation has already created deep ties between the university and the business community,” said Steve Case of Irvine Company Office Properties. “The expansion of The Cove and the addition of University Lab Partners will distinguish UCI Research Park as a unique place for business to collaborate with a top-tier university, to solve problems, create opportunity and spur business and regional economic growth.”
