UCHealth Advancing $463M Colorado Springs Hospital Expansion
UCHealth broke ground on a $463 million expansion of UCHealth Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.
The expansion includes more than 300,000 square feet of new construction, including a six-story inpatient tower, eight new operating rooms and an expanded emergency department with 10 new CDU units. The project will increase the hospital’s capacity from 140 to 190 beds, initially adding 34 medical-surgical beds and 14 intensive care unit beds.
Approximately 45% of the new space will be built out for immediate use, while the remaining space will be shelled to accommodate future growth.
The project also includes a 57,000-square-foot renovation of the existing hospital, encompassing a renovated main lobby, pharmacy and an expanded laboratory, kitchen and cafeteria.
Hammes is serving as UCHealth’s owner’s representative and project manager for the major expansion. Other partners include JE Dunn as the construction manager and Perkins&Will as the architect.
