UBS Buying Oakland Clorox Tower
Oakland is stealing the spotlight from San Francisco as more office buildings are being scooped up in the city across the bay.
The newest purchase is the Clorox Building, Oakland’s sixth-tallest tower, totaling 521,177 square feet, and located at 1221 Broadway, just minutes from the 12th Street BART station. The building was reportedly sold for about $182 million to Swiss financial giant UBS. UBS purchased the building from Westcore Properties, which bought the Clorox Building in 2012 for $110 million.
The building is reportedly now fully leased. In addition to Clorox, which occupies about half of the office tower, major tenants include Brown & Toland with 60,000 square feet, and Renewable Funding with 20,000 square feet.
