Uber Will Anchor Old Post Office with 463K-SF Lease
Uber Technologies has signed a 10-year lease for 463,000 square feet to anchor 601W Companies’ redevelopment of the Old Post Office. The ride-sharing giant’s announcement confirmed reports that first surfaced last May.
Chicago will now be Uber’s second largest office behind its San Francisco headquarters. “The city continues to attract the top talent that Uber needs to continue to thrive, and we remain committed to working together to have a positive impact in the local community,” said an Uber spokeswoman. “This is just the first of several announcements to be made in the coming weeks that we look forward to sharing with the people of Chicago.”
The company was attracted to the space not only because of its amenities, but also because of its location, as well as the development in the area and its historic place in Chicago’s history, the spokeswoman said. The lease begins in January 2020.
