Uber’s Development Team Vying for $175M Mixed-Use in Oakland

An exclusive negotiating agreement is reportedly being hammered out in a closed Oakland City Council session between a team of developers wanting to build a mixed-use project near Uber’s massive new Oakland digs.

On the table is a $175-million, 520,000-square-foot mixed-use project (retail, residential, hotel) that could break ground by mid-2017 on the coveted city-owned 1911 Telegraph Ave. parcel.

The inside track is reportedly held by Lane Partners, the Menlo Park-based firm building Uber’s new HQ.  If the Lane Partners’ team is selected, the architect will be Gensler, which recently opened an office in Oakland.

The potential developers of the new site also include Oliver McMillan, a San Diego-based company; Commune Hotels & Resorts, a San Francisco-headquartered group; and Alan Done’s SUDA, an Oakland developer with several other local projects.
