Uber Nears Deal for Seven Floors at 3 World Trade
Uber Technologies is on the verge of signing a lease for more than 300,000 square feet at Silverstein Properties’ 3 World Trade Center. Crain’s New York Business reported that the ride-sharing giant has nearly finalized a deal for seven floors, or 308,000 square feet, at the Lower Manhattan tower, with an option to expand to an eighth floor.
Earlier this month, law firm Kelley Drye & Warren signed a 15-year lease for 103,000 square feet at 3 WTC, relocating from Midtown. Crain’s reported that along with the Uber deal, there are late-stage negotiations with at least two other tenants for 225,000 square feet of space.
If all these transactions are completed, over two million square feet in the building will be full, leaving less than 500,000 square feet available. The prospect of soon filling 3 WTC is likely to bolster Silverstein’s efforts to build the long-delayed 2 World Trade Center.
