U.S. Travel Association Praises New CDC Travel Guidelines

The U.S. Travel Association has responded to the recent announcement that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will substantially relax the guidance on travel for individuals who have been fully vaccinated against COVID.

The CDC reported on April 2 that fully vaccinated people may travel as evidence mounts of the COVID-19 vaccine’s effectiveness at helping to protect against the infection and spread of coronavirus. For domestic travel, the CDC reports that individuals who are two weeks past their final shot do not need to get a coronavirus test before or after trips and do not need to self-quarantine after travel unless it is required by a state or local jurisdiction.

“The CDC’s new travel guidance is a major step in the right direction that is supported by the science and will take the brakes off the industry that has been hardest hit by the fallout of COVID by far,” said Roger Dow, president and CEO at the U.S. Travel Association in a statement. “As travel comes back, U.S. jobs come back. The CDC’s data suggests that vaccinated individuals don’t transmit the coronavirus, which opens the door much wider for resuming travel, albeit while continuing to carefully follow other health best practices.”
