U.S. Customs and Border Protection Taking 445K SF in Ashburn, VA
American Real Estate Partners (AREP) and Loudoun County finalized a 445,000-square-foot lease agreement with the GSA to bring the headquarters office for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) to the 1.9-million-square-foot American Square at Quantum Park in Ashburn, VA.
The agency will shift 3,700 Office of Information Technology (OIT) jobs to the 125.8-acre campus at 22001 Loudoun County Parkway. The 15-year lease consolidates CBP’s Northern Virginia IT offices including engineers, technicians, scientists and support personnel at the 12-building property.
AREP plans to complete $179 million in improvements to the facility, including building out the existing space and a new wing. The improvements are expected to be completed in time for the agency to move in 2020. The property is the former home of MCI/Worldcom, and houses Verizon Business.
