U.S. Bancorp to Get a Boost in Cell Connectivity, Data Speeds

Unico Properties LLC will install an FCC-approved Distributed Antenna System (DAS), a network of spatially separated antenna nodes, which provides enhanced cellular connectivity and faster data speeds for mobile device users at U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland. Partnering with Connectivity Wireless, DAS delivers in-building cellular service for tenants and visitors in the building.

U.S. Bancorp Tower is the largest multi-tenant class-A office building to install a DAS in Portland and in Oregon. Located at 111 SW 5th Ave., the 1.2 million-square-foot U.S. Bancorp Tower is in fact Portland’s largest office building. Its tenants include U.S. Bank, New Relic, SurveyMonkey, Miller Nash Graham & Dunn and Digital Trends.

“We prioritize meeting and exceeding our tenants’ needs, and a common request we’ve heard from our tenants is the need for better cellular service within the building,” said Keren Eichen, Unico Properties director of real estate. “Installing a DAS at Portland’s largest office building provides our building community with enhanced cellular connectivity, it augments our ‘workplace of the future’ and it bolsters our commitment to delivering U.S. Bancorp Tower as a first-class technology destination.”

The DAS will extend, expand and amplify cellular/data capacity throughout all common areas, in the parking garage and in restrictive areas in the building such as stairwells and elevators. After minimal disruption to daily operations in the building, the installation will be complete by this August.
