Tyler to Invest $21M in New Convention Center

Tyler, TX Mayor Martin Heines and other officials announced that the city of Tyler will spend about $21 million to build a new convention center. The funds will make improvements to the city’s Rose Garden Center at 420 Rose Park Dr., and restore the nearby Mayfair performing arts venue.

The new convention center will be built in what is now the parking lot south of the Harvey Convention Center at 2000 W. Front St. Once the new center is finished, the Harvey Convention Center will be demolished and replaced by a park.

The city council will appoint a team during its Nov. 12 meeting to work on securing a design for the new center. Construction on the project could begin by late 2020, with much of the work scheduled for completion in 2023.
