Dallas, Houston lead nation in apartment deals

Two Texas Metros Lead the Nation in Apartment Sales

MSCI, a provider of real estate investment tools, has made public a survey on the leading towns when it comes to apartment sales.

  • Two Texas metros led the nation in apartment deals in the third quarter of 2022. Dallas posted the most apartment transactions for any metro area with $18.2 billion for the quarter, beating second-place Houston by about $6 billion, according to MSCI, a firm that provides tools and services for the global investment community.
  • Houston, with $11.8 billion in sales, held the second spot. The two Texas metros were followed by Atlanta ($11.4 billion), Phoenix ($10.8 billion)

Dallas also stood out for claiming the top spot for transaction volume and posting one of the top markets — 24.5% — for price growth.

“We have a very diverse employment base and we’re not dependent on one specific sector like oil and gas or healthcare,” said Ashland Greene’s Shakti C’Ganti. Ashland Greene owns over 5,000 units in the DFW area.
