Two Taylor Rezonings Pave Way for New Dwelling/Hotel Units
Samsung’s $19 billion chip plant (photo) is still a year from opening. But that’s not stopping opportunistic developers from preparing for the incursion of new residents seeking housing. Two primarily residential developments planned in Taylor are just one step away from reality after the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission recommended the project sites for rezoning. The town’s city council is expected to give final approval at an upcoming meeting.
The Austin Business Journal reports in both cases, rezonings would allow for denser housing to be built in the growing city northeast of Austin — a total of 446 units between the two projects.
Gateway could include 347 residential units spread across townhomes, apartments, residential-over-retail properties and live-work residences. It could also have 76,300 square feet of retail space and 300 rooms spread across two hotels.
The second project is a 15-acre development called Legacy Crossing. It’s expected to be a planned development “that incorporates (109) attached and detached single-family and multi-family residential.”
