Two DFW Supermarkets Closing

Two DFW supermarkets are closing their doors. The Kroger’s store at University Avenue and US 75 will close later this summer. This is part of the national chain’s latest directive to close 60 underperforming stores, while adding others in growing communities. There are two other McKinney locations. Kroger’s has recently opened new stores in Plano, Melissa and Fort Worth.

Kroger is the nation’s largest supermarket chain, with 2,731 stores in 35 states and the District of Columbia. It operates stores under multiple brands, including Smith’s, Ralphs, King Soopers and Fred Meyer.

Additionally, a Tom Thumb grocery store at 2200 E. 14th St. in Plano will close in late July. Four other Tom Thumbs will remain open in the town.
